In a new era of hip hop… where apparently… lyrical content doesn’t really matter… nor measure up to Illmatic…  Nas can still drop it like 94… he chooses now to use his abilities to speak in a mature voice but still let the heads know that he is very capable of hitting that Illmatic button…

What first started in 2003 with the release of Beg for Mercy, G-Unit, through all of the self made controversies, is back. As of June, the group reunited and with a new member, Kidd Kidd. That name doesn’t seem hard enough for the Unit.

Later this year G-Unit will release the new EP, The Beast Is G-Unit. The crew has already recorded a ton of songs and six will be released for Beast.

I am interested in knowing how long this good G-Unit vibe will last. 50 is a very busy man. And remember he needs to stay on schedule with “Power” because I’m a fan and won’t accept a delay in production. Word Up!!!

Bishop T.D. Jakes is not happy with the song “Holy Ghost” using part of his sermon without his approval.

“Holy Ghost,” Jeezy’s song featuring Kendrick Lamar, begins with passionate words from Jakes – words that came from a February 2013 sermon called “Don’t Let the Chatter Stop You.” According to a post on T.D. Jakes Ministries’ Facebook page, the sermon was sampled in Jeezy’s rap song “without the knowledge or consent” of Jakes, who is the bishop at The Potter’s House.

It appears as if Jakes will take the necessary legal actions to stop the unauthorized use of his intellectual property.  The Dallas Morning News could not find record of a lawsuit filed in federal court. Jakes’ spokesperson wouldn’t comment, saying they stay mum on legal matters.

Lamar’s spokesperson says he isn’t aware of a pending lawsuit. ”I don’t know anything about this,” Ray Alba said last week. We could not reach Def Jam, Jeezy’s label, for comment.

The video for the “Holy Ghost” remix has now been removed from YouTube; the song was also deleted from SoundCloud. It is available on World Star Hip Hop as of Monday morning.

This is a bit of a touchy subject.  Its Hip Hop… no doubt… but its also a message being delivered… albeit Hip Hop.

Earlier this week, Rah Digga in an interview with ThisIs50 said that Iggy Azalea “isn’t hip-hop.”

“Iggy Azalea it’s like I can’t get into her,” she said. “Because it’s just not real to me. There is a white girl from Australia that spits in an Australian accent, and her name is Chelsea Jane. Don’t come to America and try to convince me that you’re Gangsta Boo. Personally, I don’t consider her Hip Hop. I listen to her album. Everything that I hear on there is everything but that. And I feel like Hip Hop is Hip Hop.”

Azalea took to Twitter to respond. “I honestly don’t really mind if I’m described as rap or pop. My passion is purely making music and entertaining,” read Azalea’s tweet. “its definetly funny seeing ppl get so emotional over it all. What does it matter? music is music and many enjoy mine, no need to feel upset.”

Not sure I even understand this one.

Mally Mall’s Las Vegas home is currently being raided by the FBI.

The “Love and Hip Hop” star is a target in an ongoing criminal investigation, although law enforcement would not be specific.  Apparently, the FBI entered pursuant to a search warrant.

The rapper/producer has worked with stars, such as… Justin Bieber, Chris Brown and Drake.
