Back when Iggy Azalea and A$AP Rocky first came on the scene, Iggy tattooed the words “Live Love A$AP” on her fingers as an ode to her man (since it was the title of his mixtape.) When things didn’t work out, however, she crossed out the “A$AP”. She need up spazzing out on the media for focusing their attention on it. It was the talk on blog posts everywhere.

Clearly she didn’t enjoy the subject being a topic of conversation, and I’m willing to bet it’s because she was probably still a little salty over it. She eventually opened up about the situation with Complex Magazine, discussing the tattoo, whether she regrets the relationship and just how serious they were.

Iggy Stated… “I’d date somebody in the industry again, but the number one thing I regret saying publicly is that I fucking loved Rakim,” Iggy said of the relationship. She elaborated:

These are the things that happen when you say you love somebody in the media: Every person that person’s ever had sex with, who would still like to have sex with them, will say what a lame bitch you are. Every person who’s ever had sex with me, who wants to have sex with me still, will say how wack the guy is. Then, everybody who has an ulterior motive business-wise is gonna come at us and tell us every reason why we shouldn’t fuck with each other. Little seeds get planted. “Does she really love you? Did she say that because she’s using you for attention? You should be dating a black girl.” Blogs do voting polls: “Do you think they’re a good couple or not?” I fucking hated that. It’s not a song. It’s a relationship, and you’re not in it, by the way. It’s so sick to me. Also, you can never go out because people will take pictures of you or talk about what you’re doing, or if you’re having a fight. You’ll never be able to enjoy yourself in the capacity of a normal fucking human being ever again.

That’s kind of a lie, seeing how very public she is with Nick Young these days, but we get what she meant.

I’ve never regretted it. I fucking loved him. I know he loved me, too. I felt like he was somebody I could count on who loved me for being me, and I don’t want to forget that. I would sacrifice a quarter of a pinky for those memories. That’s why I didn’t cross it out all the way, because if I’d covered it up all the way, that says I’m embarrassed. You shouldn’t be ashamed of the trials of becoming an adult. I wanted people to know I’m free for more possible love interests, but also not ashamed.

Welp, looks like that was a bit inaccurate too, as it appears she’s had it lasered off, judging by these paparazzi photos taken outside of a doctor’s office yesterday. Hey, things change when you fall in love, right?

24-year old Logic was signed to Def Jam in 2013 by Executive Vice President of A&R, No I.D. (who went on to serve as executive producer of UNDER PRESSURE). The 2013 signing coincided with XXL magazine naming Logic to its ‘Freshman 10’ list, a highly competi­tive annual survey that showcases the brightest young up-and-coming personalities in hip-hop. Logic joined a notable lineup that included Ab-Soul, Action Bronson, Angel Haze, Dizzy Wright, Joey Bada$$, Kirko Bangz, Schoolboy Q, Travi$ Scott, Trinidad James, and (named as the “11th Freshman”), Chief Keef.

A broken home, a dysfunctional family, skirmishes with drugs, and life on the streets conspired to shape Logic’s graphic, hardcore flow. His influences run from Wu-Tang Clan, the Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, and Nas, to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Miles Davis. At the same time, he was profoundly influenced by the life and times of Frank Sinatra, whose histories and movies were a part of Logic’s youth as his mother exposed him to the original Rat Pack leader. Logic’s clips have collected more than 30 million views since 2010. His Young Sinatra mixtape trilogy began in 2011, with the release of Young Sinatra, featuring the single and viral video “All I Do.” Young Sinatra: Undeniable arrived in 2012, featuring “The Spotlight.” Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever was released in 2013, containing tracks produced by No I.D., Don Cannon, Arthur McArthur, Swiff D, C-Sick, Kevin Randolph, and 6ix.

“So many people think they can rap,” Logic said on the VMG website, “and they just want a deal and the glitz and the glamour and the women but they don’t understand that all I do and want to do is rhyme. I engineer, mix, master, record, produce all of my own music and I think I’ve sacrificed so much from my relationships to my friendships to my family; I’ve literally sacrificed my entire life and I’m honest.”

In case you didn’t know, December 1st was Worlds AIDS Day. There was a concert in Times Square with performances by Carrie Underwood, U2 with Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen, and of course Mr. Kanye West!  He hit the stage performing a variety of hits ranging from his College Dropout album all the way to the Yeezus album. Kanye took a bite out of the Big Apple last night with his performance. The concert has been established to raise awareness of AIDS and fund research for a cure.  Bank of America and The (RED) charity hosted the event.

Fabolous on MTV today made a major announcement that he signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation imprint (I’m unsure whether for a record label or for management) however Fabolous did confirm that Young OG will drop at digital retailers on Christmas, and the first single from the project will be called “Lituation.”  As for the album, it will be “very ’90s-inspired and ’90s themed,” just like his recent birthday party! Fab seems to embrace that golden era in hip-hop . Congrats on the Roc Nation move and can’t wait for this album to drop.

New York City… The Big Apple… The NYC… What is going on?  Once… The place to be… The Mecca… The scene was felt all over the world… to make it… NYC had to be a part of it… This is no longer the case… The Hip Hop circuit has taken a tour since the late 90’s and found new homes in major cities across the U.S… Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Chicago… etc…

NYC was the shit…  Since Hip Hop’s inception… NYC was all anyone knew…  Ok… Things evolve…  but to be completely left out… Now that’s an exaggeration… But that’s what it feels like… Would anyone argue if I said 90% of the Hip Hop game was comprised of Mc’s from NYC and surrounding areas from 1980 – 1995… Would anyone disagree that the percentage has been on a steady decline since 95 and is more like 10% present day?… That is beyond drastic… New York radio sounds more like songs are being played by guest DJ’s from around the country… Hip Hop is going to continue to change… And I’m not writing so we can help New York artist have a presence in the game again… But… Something went really wrong…

When you’re on top of the world it’s hard to stay there… Did New York lose its hunger? Or did everyone else come up with a vision that eventually supplanted the ideas of the New York Mc…  Now New York artist must adjust to being the minority in the game…

Adding to the dilemma is the meaning of a dope MC… It too has changed… Lyrical content has been devalued in today’s Hip Hop… Mc’s are dope but their lyrics aren’t mind blowing… Story telling is non-existent… All of which personified the New York Hip Hop artist…   Today… there’s new content… albeit all similar… it’s new… New deliveries on the Mic… Hip Hop has always had good Mc’s and trash Mc’s… the difference is that the majority come from different areas of the country now… How we judge Mc’s has changed… It had to… Today Mc’s are good and bad for different reasons… You’re dope because you got 100,00 followers on your own… Your radio spins are crazy without the help of the machine (Labels)… You get the idea… It’s more than just the music now…

Can NYC rebound?  That’s a question that has been thrown around quite a bit… We know the City can do it big… Puff Daddy… Jay Z… 50 Cent… but whose next?… and how long will it take?…  Who will bring back that feel that can change the game… and do it from the Big Apple?

From a lyrical perspective… It doesn’t get much better than this… Lord Finesse and Big L team up on the “Yes You May” (Remix) and deliver a classic for the ages… This is straight up some Hip Hop shit that you remember and quote… Finesse and L hit you with punchline after punchline… This song embodies the Hip Hop Collabo series… The“Yes You May” Remix could have been released with the acapella and heads would still nod to this… Hip Hop is about styles… We previously featured “Scenario” with A Tribe Called Quest and L.O.N.S… That was a track filled with varying styles… Big L and Lord Finesse are somewhat similar… both street related MC’s… the constant with them is they go for the knockout with memorable lines that make all the heads jaws drop… RIP to Big L…
